MERMAID SIGHTING ON THE 4TH OF JULY IN NORTHPORT, MICHIGAN (2019). A real Lake Michigan mermaid was found enjoying the Independence Day Fireworks from underwater. She was seen splashing her tail around in the bay as the fireworks lit up the sky overhead. This video features rare, one-of-a-kind footage of a mermaid swimming underwater during the 4th of July show. You may have seen footage of mermaids swimming before, but you've NEVER seen anything like this!!

A SPECIAL NOTE TO MY SUBSCRIBERS:
This video was something dad and I decided to do last minute. Literally... we were on our way to home from the Traverse City National Cherry Festival when my family and I started talking about the fireworks in Northport. They have the BEST fireworks in our area, and we go to see them every year. Naturally, dad and I started drifting to the topic of swimming, since we both love the water and had spent the day baking in the summer sun. Then, we hatched a CRAZY idea... What if we watched the fireworks from underwater?
We are both curious and a bit reckless, so we decided we would give the idea a go. We got my silicone mermaid tail, grabbed the underwater camera and then headed off to Northport to implement our plan. We didn't know if we'd even be allowed to swim during the firework show, so we DID make sure to ask the police about it first. ♥ Luckily, they gave us the a-okay to do our thing. (THANK YOU!!) ♥
We had a hard time getting ready to swim, since it was so dark and the beach was super crowded, but we made it work. We filmed in the water in the dead of night, only being able to find one another by playing a game of "Marco Polo." Since I'm already (mostly) blind, I'm used to doing that sort of thing on a daily basis, so it worked well.
After our swim, we got the chance to talk to a nice group of people from Hawaii who we were! It was actually pretty neat, and they were super nice to chat with! ♥
BUT... we also had some very gross people that we encountered. People who said things like "that's so stupid," and people who mocked my looks directly behind my back. Some of them may have been locals, but most of them were from out of town.
Regardless... those people reminded me of the fact that I am NOT doing what I do to impress anyone or to showboat. I do what I do because I LOVE it. I do what I do to INSPIRE others and to SHOW them that they can live their dreams too. This is MY art. This is MY passion. I do not do what I do for those who scoff and sneer. I do it for me, I do it for the kids, and I do it for those who need a little extra magic in their world.
Remember. You have the freedom to be YOU. That is the great thing about this country and about many other places around the world. People may frown, they may make rude remarks and they may even try to bring you down. Don't let them. Keep on doing what you do and making your magic in this world. Sending you a big hug!
