Coming out as a Mermaid or Cosplayer: How to Tell your Family about Mermaiding and Cosplay - Telling your friends and family about your love for mermaids or dressing up can be uncomfortable. How do you tell someone you want to be a mermaid!?!? Will my family think I'm weird??? This whole "I'm part fish" thing is a bit of a strange situation to be in, really... But no worries! Countless other merfolk have safely made the swim from "normal life" to mer-life and you can too. I won't lie, it's not going to be easy telling the world about your fintastic hobby, but you can do it! Here's how I transitioned into life as a mermaid and broke the news to my family, friends, and the curious locals.

I encourage any seasoned mers to jump into the discussion as well, since we've all been there and probably would have liked to have had someone to "talk it out" with back in our days of struggle.
