HOW TO MAKE A SEASHELL BRA: Want to swim in a clam bra like a real mermaid? This EASY diy tutorial will teach you exactly how to make a swimmable shell bra! This seashell swim top is suitable for use by professional mermaids and recreational mermaids. Although my creation looks very Gothic and more like the clothing of a siren than a mermaid, you can feel free to make your mermaid craft WHATEVER color you want! Maybe you're a Goth Siren like me, or perhaps you're a bubbly princess or queen of the mermaids in your sea?! Either way, this quick and easy tutorial will be extremely useful to you as you build your mersona and add to your mermaiding clothes stash! Of course, this magical mer bra can be worn on dry land too, not just in the water. It makes for a great Halloween costume piece, a pretty rave outfit, or even just a cute "I'm a mermaid" statement piece to wear to the beach.

*Nylon Thread (for upholstery), needle, tulle and decorations should be purchased at your local craft store so that you can see, feel and compare the products to the bra and shells that you have. Colors aren't always the same online as they are in person, so I suggest shopping in store for such things. However, you can find all of these things online if you choose to do that! ♥

CARING FOR YOUR MERMAID SEASHELL BRA
🖤 Because seashells don't do well in the washing machine, do NOT put your seashell bra in the washer! That will ruin it. If you would like to wash it, try rinsing it in cold water and allow it to air dry.
You COULD try to neutralize any chlorine on your bra by splashing it with a mix of baking soda and water OR a mix of vinegar and water. With that being said, I have never felt the need to do this to mine. If you do chose to do this, rinse the piece with fresh water afterwards!
💜 Your handmade seashell bra can be worn in chlorine, salt water and in fresh water. I have NEVER worn mine in a hot tub, so I don't know what would happen if you were to do that! Hahaha!
🖤 As with anything else that a mermaid gets her hands on, you bra will start to show signs of wear and tear after a while. Depending on how clumsy and rough you are (I am both!) you may have to touch up the paint after a few swims (I bump my shell bra on EVERYTHING!). Additionally, if the glue holding the shell to the bra detaches from either the seashell or the bra, you may want to consider adding more glue to re-enforce the bond. I have NEVER lost a shell, but I have had to re-glue certain areas to keep the bra from coming apart.
💜 I am NOT an expert on fabric. Please note that certain fabrics and dyes may change color overtime when exposed to chlorine. Not all fabrics do... and I don't really have a "use this not that list" for you at the time, but yeah... if it happens, it happens! I haven't had a problem so far except for with black Hemp Cord, which turns brown when exposed to chlorine. I've had no issues with my bras!
